CHAPTER 12 (ERP)

Explain the roles of information play in enterprise resource planning system?

  The first role of information plays in enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is accounting and finance. The purpose is to collect, update and maintain information about any transactional database. For example,  payment and billing. ERP assists in easier search for database if any reference is needed.

  The next role includes Human Resource. The purpose is to collect, update and maintain information about any data about employees. In additional, the department has access to information when making decisions and solving problems when it comes to employees.  

  Thirdly is Inventory. The function is to collect, update and maintain information about stocks for company. This database stores information about the flow of stocks accordingly.


  Other role of information is Manufacturing. The aim is to make sure that the inputs are turning into finished outputs through a series of production processes. This ERP system will enable manufacturers to compete in the prevailing market atmosphere.

  Marketing is one of the role of information in enterprise resource planning (ERP). The purpose is to collect, update and maintain information on any data about the production. Furthermore, the department has access to information during decision making and strategy planning when it comes to production.

  Lastly, the role of information plays in enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is Purchasing. Purchasing is the backbone of many industrial organizations. The aim is to develop and maintain good buyer-seller relationship. This database will make the transaction process becomes easier between the buyer and the seller.
